Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. People who aren't familiar with the name mistakenly believe that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually the West Island includes everything westward from the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. However, this isn't the case. Brugel was born in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. Early ambitions were to be a performer, but she was able to outgrow her dancers. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. When I grew out of my male dancers, I quit. Former dancers often turn into acting and Brugel wasn't an exception. A drama teacher in her high school was able to push Bruce in her direction that she required. It was the teacher who recommended she take on a part in the annual school production. She threw herself into it and ended up playing the character of Anne of Green Gables. This Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been involved in more than 60 productions, both in smaller and big ones. The most notable was her notoriety when she got her character of Rita for the show that won awards. show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor to appear in the season 1 and only appeared on occasion.
